"Our Task must be to widen our circle of compassion, to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in all its beauty"    - Albert Einstein

Iringa, Toka and Thika with their much publicized story of possible relocation from Toronto's cold zoo to an animal sanctuary in California, are bringing to our attention the growing concern with the welfare and possible rights for animals.

Some questions we might look at are:

1) From your experience, would you say that animals exhibit somecognition, emotions and experience pain and suffering?  (should someanimals be singled out for consideration?)
2) What sort of rights to care and welfare could humans reasonably extend to those creatures who share nature with us?
3) What sort of care might we extend to the whole of nature?
4) How might extending care and compassion to animals affect our current way of life?
