HAT Speaker Series - "Knock On Wood: Luck, Chance, and the Meaning of Everything"

  • OISE Room 5-170 (5th floor, Rm 170) 252 Bloor Street West Toronto, ON, M5S 1V6 Canada (map)

A few years ago, Professor Jeffrey Rosenthal presented to HAT a talk based on his bestselling book about probabilities in everyday life, "Struck by Lightning: The Curious World of Probabilities". The talk was received as fascinating and enthralling.

Now he’s back for a return engagement to talk about his latest book, "Knock On Wood: Luck, Chance, and the Meaning of Everything" that deals with luck and how we can use logic and basic statistical reasoning to sort out random luck from true patterns.

Jeffrey’s initial media appearances and public talks, including a recent one at the Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema, have created a real buzz. Join us as Prof. Rosenthal brings Statistics and Probabilities to Life!
