Picasso treated the women in his life badly-he said there were two kinds of women, goddesses and doormats; Miles Davis was a violent man who routinely beat his wives; Woody Allen married Soon Yi Previn, 34 years younger and Mia Farrow’s adopted daughter.
If we feel repugnance towards these men for their actions, how do we treat their genius and their art? Do we boycott Woody Allen films and Miles Davis records? Do we remove Picassos from the art galleries? Are there comparable examples from other areas besides the arts?”
