“What is a Canadian?”

Today, being Canada Day, is a good time to reflect on the question of what is a Canadian? When I first arrived in Canada, someone born and raised in Canada remarked that while Canadians know that they are not Americans, they can’t say who they are. With this background, let us consider the following questions:

1)     Apart from being different from Americans, what makes Canadians Canadian?

2)     What are similarities between Canadians and Americans?

3)     What are some of the dark chapters in Canada’s history?

4)     How do we deal with the legacies of those dark chapters today?

5)     What are Canada’s main contributions to the world?

6)     What should Canadian be proud of?

7)     Would you recommend someone living in another country that they move to Canada?
