“The Importance of Games & Hobbies”
Presented by The Forum
Special Guest Joel Shuster and Vinci

Games and hobbies hold significant importance in various aspects of human life, contributing positively to mental, emotional, social, and even physical well-being. Games and hobbies are important for many reasons. Here are a few…

  • Stress Relief and Relaxation

  • Skill Development

  • Creativity and Imagination

  • Cognitive Benefits

  • Social Interaction

  • Physical Activity

  • Sense of Achievement

  • Cultural Enrichment

Questions:

  1. What are your favourite Games/Hobbies?

  2. What initially drew you to them? What makes them meaningful or interesting to you?

  3. Can you describe a memorable experience or achievement you've had while pursuing your hobby or playing a game?

  4. Do you find that your game/hobby has influenced other aspects of your life?

  5. Are there specific people or communities you've connected with through your game/hobby? How has that impacted your experience?

  6. If you could introduce someone to your favourite game/hobby, how would you describe its appeal and what they can gain from trying it?

  7. Is there a point where games/hobbies can go from being positive experiences and pleasant diversions to being dangerously all-consuming avoidance of real-life concerns?

NOTE: During today’s meeting there will be an opportunity to view and possibly play Vinci, a deceptively simple game of strategy and geometry led by the game’s innovator, HAT member Joel Shuster.
