This week we will welcome member Paul Kaplan as he talks about his amazing path through 3 countries and 3 very different philosophical perspectives on his way to becoming the Secular Humanist he is today.

Paul Kaplan was born and raised in New York City where he earned a bachelor’s degree from New York University. He moved to the Chicago area to attend graduate school at Northwestern University where he earned a master’s and doctorate degree in economics. After graduate school, he remained in the Chicago area where he worked for investment research firms.

Paul became active in “the local churches” as a teenager and remained so when he moved to the Chicago area. After a long period in the local churches, he left and became an atheist. He then moved to London (UK) and then to Toronto, where he became active in various secular groups, including the Humanist Association of Toronto.
